How Geofencing Advertising Works

A virtual geofence is created around the geographical location of a venue, creating an area in which to target ads to consumers who will be at the particular location during a specific timeframe.
When people enter a geo-fenced location during a set timeframe, they are added to an audience that can be later targeted following the event.
As the user visits various apps downloaded on their phone (Angry Bird, Weather Channel, Emoji Keyword, Words With Friends) or browses the internet on the mobile browsers, they begin to see ads from said advertiser.
Customers can see those ads up to 30 days after they have been captured in a fence.
